Terrific Tuesday!!!!!!!!

*sigh*
I just love tuesdays now. really I truly do. Knowing my blog has some sort of scheduled thingy each week makes me feel like it's more than just my quiet place to ramble. Like it is a teeny bit like all those real big fancy shmancy blogs out there. You know.. the ones that have sponsors and thousands of followers??? (I suppose when I start doing giveaways and having sponsors I might just faint!) -on a side note....do you think it sad that I got all giddy this morning
about having 15 followers?- thank you readers =] Besides all that I love having an excuse to blabber endlessly on about something I find absolutely Terrific!!!
annnyyy excuse to talk, eh?
Ah yes, The Frighteningly GOOD third day of the week has ARRIVED! Alrighty, so we all know Christmas is RIGHT around the corner. I AM SO EXCITED! *ahem* if you have just now realized how close Christmas is...I am reaching out to give you a virtual slap. hello?!?!
I do believe one of my favorite thing about this time of year is baking cookies.
COOKIES!
ahh I always knew me and the cookie monster had a connection when i was little. Cookies shall be the death of me, when they are a little crispy on the outside but nice and chewy on the inside. Mmmmmmm. I will eat a truck load. and baking them>??? gahhhh
I end up having way too much fun, making a huge mess, and eating half the dough. But Christmas cookie baking time is THE BEST. We are about to start planning our cookie baking day in my household. and that's when I remembered my special recipe I do every year.
It's from an old Christmas Cookie Book. you can't Google it OR Bing it. you may find a similar recipe, but believe me. it's NOT the same. I've never ever shared this with anyone outside my family.
It is my gift to you readers. =]

*that picture is the closest picture I could find to the real thing, since I don't have one myself, just visualize that cookie with ribbons of melted peppermint throughout.*

Mint Chocolate Snaps

1(6 ounce) package semisweet chocolate morsels. Half cup plus one and half tbsp shortening, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1/4 cup light corn syrup, 1 teaspoon peppermint extract , 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup to 1 cup crushed peppermint candy, additional sugar

Melt chocolate morsels in top of double boiler over simmering water. Cream shortening in a large mixing bowl: gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add melted chocolate, beating well. Add egg, syrup, and flavorings: beat well. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl: stir in chocolate mixture and crushed peppermint candy. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, and roll in additional sugar: place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350* degrees for 12-15 minutes. Cool on cookies sheets for 5 minutes: remove to wire racks. Store in airtight containers. Yields: about 7 dozen

Me ohh My

That previous post was rather deep and intense,
and all over the place.
aaaannnnnd....long-ish.
was it not?
Mondays. oh mondays.
virtual cupcakes to those who actually read that post below and "get" it =]
I told you, I warned you, I think
often.
Have a PLEASANT evening.

Frolicking in the Field of Dreams

Good Morning,
one and all
who come hither to blunder and plunder throughout the many crooks and crannies
of this so called place of blogging.
I dare say my musing of the noggin can be quite trivial to read at times, the recesses of my inner most wonderings sometimes appear as a mess of buttons in a jar.
All different colors, shapes and ages.
This week has pushed off quite splendidly.
It started with a seed of goodly thought being planted in my mind yesterday.
Don't you just delight when someones comes up to you and gives you a kindly word of advice
or just says something.
Like a young seed in the unbroken earth,
so goes the seed of thought or knowledge into the vast mind.
It plunders and wonders throughout. looking to be planted.
ah, but if thou dost not let it find its place of rest....
it shall rant a rage causing great distress and unrest!
Mine found its place of growth quite quickly I must say.
I have a large collection of ambitions and dreams
and longing for good learning and pleasant but knowledgeable books.
The mind is like a sponge, and by gosh mine sure is a big'un!
With a break from the realm of scholars and professors...I have had much time to dwell on my longings and ambitions. I have so many, so so many!
I want to DO so many things, READ so many books, LEARN all sorts of learning's.
GO to many distant lands. There is so much I dare say, my cup seems to constantly brim up and overflow with it all. Where to start?
This week is going to be a change in the wind, I feel it. I shall no longer think I cannot learn as much as I would like, or fulfill any of the dreams I have.
I shall not be afraid of my most serious and deepest thoughts.
( I used to be deathly scared of serious thoughts, thinking I should only explore the shallow
childlike ones)
I shall allow my mind to stretch out as far as it can.
and I shall carrying with me a sack of happy and a rod of guidance
My seed. yes the seed that amazingly found its' into my
highly unorganized and somewhat childlike mind started this whole chain of events.
or rather, unburied them. for I must admit they have been there all along, constantly trying to pop out.
Perhaps down the lane....
which could come up rather fast, or slow.
Whatever the Lord's will is
I shall be in my home.
with my husband.
and we too shall begin to plant goodly seeds in our own children's minds.

The Happiness Freedom Brings...

I was totally going to blog yesterday...
Totally.
But I ended up taking advantage of my free day
by attempting to do a little shopping at the mall.
I didn't buy much, actually just 2 items(gifts)
because my price range was not very broad this time....
they should take pity on me and put everything on sale whenever I come out.
haaaaaaa. dream on rachel.
But it was a splendid time! I went with a dear friend of mine,
and I found so many cute things.
I wanted to buy them all but made sure I paced myself.
I ate at this amazing yogurt shoppe, You Say When.
it's my ultimate favorite!
I also spent a majority of the time people-watching.
It's great fun, I could literally just go to mall, sit outside a coffee shop,
and watch people. for hours.
What are their lives like? what are they shopping for? what are their dreams and goals?
why do they dress the way they do...

I'm getting sidetracked...but I am just oh so pleased it is break!
Sometimes I will make a list of things that make me incandescently happy.
I think it's good for the mind, to just really focus on the things that truly make us happy.
it can be little itty bitty things, or great big bundles!

*photo from the web, but this is the shoppe I went to, I don't own a working camera at the moment =[*

Here is my list of things that make me incandescently happy!

  • Running through the grass barefoot
  • A barn full of well fed happy horses
  • Vintage. Anything Vintage
  • Sprinkles
  • Twirling in a floaty skirt
  • Hugs that last a while
  • Hats of any size or shape
  • Rosey red cheeks and noses during chilly weather
  • When the sun shines through my window and wakes me up warmly
  • inky ink pens
  • yogurt shoppes

So Long, Farewell!

I am finished.
I AM DONE!
oh. my. gravy.
The semester has ended. Goodbye college! I just finished taking my algebra exam.
I am for real done. through!
So long endless lectures, late nights of studying and cramming,
waking up at 6am,
driving the same route. every- single- week.
Goodbye teachers.
I know you thought you were really great,
and I did learn things. really, I did.
but I'm sorry to report that some of you did not quite make it up to par.
( and one of you did not make this semester an easy one, lol)
Goodbye students.
some of you were interesting, some of you were great,
some of you were just odd, and some of you reminded me of zombies.
Farewell classroom door that I ran right smack into several times.
*whispers* I blame you for the low grades-
This semester was a challenge.
it was fun,....it was horrible,
it was hilarious,.....it was monotonous.
I have an ENTIRE month off until the spring semester starts.
what ever shall I do with myself?
WHO KNOWS?
but it's gonna be great! Christmas, New Years, and my birthday
all happen during my month off.
January 11th? pleeeaaasssee just take your time. no rush spring semester. no rush.

Terrific Tuesday! Hooray!

goodness gracious. Once again the frighteningly good 3rd day of the week has arrived!
It is fun. oh what fun it is.
*grins* Since it is that time of the year
( PRESENT TIME!)
I thought a terrific gift idea would be quite suitable
don't ya think?
I always think that if you could throw in a good helpful cause,
plus a good gift, mix it all together, and be completely pleased.
Vola'!
the perfect present.

TOMS Shoes.
yes, I personally own a pair, and LOVE them.

I, however, cannot take full credit for discovering these shoes.
my dear friend Whitney did. I saw her wearing a pair and just couldn't get over how cute, and comfy they looked! plus you can practically wear them with anything.really.I saw her shoes, she told me the story behind them, and I was hooked. This is usually how people find out about them, the shoes are eye catching =]
"TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we're all about."

You get a totally cool and groovy pair of shoes.
A kid who really needs them gets a pair too!All for the price of just one pair =]oh I love being inspired. Now, they aren't super cheap. But I really truly believe it is worth it.You could buy a pair as a gift to someone, and at the same time be giving a pair to someone who desperately needs shoes. No extra money, no scams, just honest giving =]

check them out!>>>TOMS SHOES<<<<<<

P.S. I don't know about you, but I would love to have those wrap boots. they come in multiple colors, too cute! =]

also, a new reader of mine, Federica, is having a sweet giveaway at her place. go check it out!

Have a great day!!

Ribble Rubble Ramble

Hello
* whispers* that up there is not me.... sadly. It's just a rad 40's glam shot. =]
I have much on my mind as of late. In fact, I believe I have done far more deep thinking this past weekend then I have in a while. Some of you may know I already do far more in-depth thinking then I believe is humanly normal....
so I'm not sure if this all should frighten me or excite me.
I seem to always do it when I am in a crowd of people....
daydreaming or whatever you want to call it.
I will go through entire scenarios and multiple thoughts right in the midst of friends.
They will be jibbering and jabbering about something quite funny or pleasant
and there I am in a daze
Usually followed by me blinking and then fervently asking
"whaaa? what did you say? what were you guys talking about?
I'm so confused!"
.......I wonder why?

This happens a lot.
Sometimes I will just space out.
thinking of, um. er.
nothing.
Or I'm distracted by shiny objects, or someones pretty smile, or groovy shoes.
it just happens.
and everything around me sounds extremely mumbled and unimportant.
Until I come out of it and realize it probably was of some importance.
oops.

Anywho...
(goodness look at me chasing after all these rabbits!)
This is the FINAL week of the fall semester.
I only have to endure 4 more days of studying and exams
I am incredibly giddy about this.
and then I will have an ENTIRE month to enjoy many pleasant happenings
I can't wait.
GAHHH!!!
